1. KGI (Key Goal Indicator)
KGI is referred to as 'Ultimate Goal'. In this app, KGI is also called 'Main KPI'.
KGI does not necessarily have to be 'SMART'. Your ultimate goal does not have to be specific or measurable, it can be moonshot, but it should have a deadline. The ultimate goal should be set first. Then develop a scenario and set milestones along the path to your ultimate goal.
2. KPI (Key Performance Indicator)
KPI is referred to as 'Intermediate Goal' or 'Milestone'. In this app, KPI is also called 'Sub KPI' if it belongs to 'Main KPI'.
KPI must be 'SMART'. 'SMART' is an acronym for the words 'Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound'.
- Specific: KPIs must be clear and specific. Clarify when, what, and how.
- Measurable: KPIs must be measurable to track progress. Set concrete, quantitative indicators.
- Achievable: KPIs must be achievable. If they are not, break them down into small, actionable steps.
- Relevant: KPIs must be aligned with the KGI. Set milestones along the path to your ultimate goal.
- Time-bound: KPIs must have a clear deadline.
3. Strategy
To achieve your ultimate goal, you need to develop a strategy. Developing a strategy means developing a scenario. Developing a scenario is the first step to success. Every success story begins by establishing a consistent ultimate goal, and the scenario for achieving it must be continually adjusted to reflect progress and changing circumstances. The scenario should be flexible rather than perfect. Even if your scenario is imperfect, you can adjust it later. Continuously adjusting the scenario while keeping the ultimate goal in mind requires 'GRIT'. GRIT is an acronym for the words 'Guts, Resilience, Initiative, Tenacity'. You may face an intractable problem; therefore, you will need not ordinary GRIT but extraordinary GRIT. To transform ordinary GRIT into extraordinary GRIT, you need to understand how your ultimate goal aligns with your life purpose. And imagine yourself being successful. It is up to you to make it happen. It is recommended to include your envisioned ideal state in the final scene of the scenario to sustain your GRIT.
4. Time Management
KGI & KPI should have deadlines, and time management is very important. First, be grateful for the time you are granted. Time is finite, and no one knows how much time you have left, so there is no time to waste. Do not delay, take action immediately on what you can do. While it is effective to prioritize high-priority tasks, it is also recommended to prepare several low-difficulty tasks on hand to avoid stagnation. Break tasks into small, actionable steps. If you are ahead of schedule, an earlier deadline should be considered.
5. KGI & KPI Management
With the above in mind, keep moving forward to your ultimate goal by iterating the following steps:
(1) KGI Reaffirmation: Reaffirm your ultimate goal - what you want to achieve, by when, and why - to reignite your extraordinary GRIT.
(2) KPI Review: Review your KPI scenarios to ensure they are SMART and perfectly aligned with your KGI.
(3) Action and Progress: Drive your KPIs forward and record the results, even if they are small steps. Build this process into your daily routine to make it a habit.
(4) Evaluation and Adaptation: Evaluate your KPI progress and its contribution to the KGI. Revise your scenarios as needed, keeping in mind that changing scenarios can demand a significant amount of GRIT.
